The main fabrication challenge was keeping the radius and edge profile consistent across separate pieces while controlling dimensional accumulation at the joints. Because Volakas has directional grey veining, the cutting position also needed to consider how the pattern would move across the finished desk rather than optimizing material yield alone.

From Drawing to Fabrication

For custom Volakas marble countertops, fabrication begins with the drawing rather than the cutting machine. Buyers can provide architectural plans, elevations, cabinet drawings, furniture drawings, PDFs, sketches or dimensional schedules. Our team can develop these into production drawings for approval before fabrication.

Before production, we can confirm:

• Finished length, width, thickness and shape
• Sink model, mounting type and cutout dimensions
• Faucet hole quantity and position
• Cooktop and other openings
• Backsplash and side-splash dimensions
• Edge profiles and exposed sides
• Seam positions and overhangs
• Vein direction
• Piece number and installation location

Free CAD detailing is available, and 3D rendering can be provided for applicable islands, reception desks, vanity assemblies, mitered structures and furniture components where the relationship between pieces needs to be reviewed before production.

Curved and multi-piece components require tighter coordination than a standard rectangular countertop. A long radius may be divided into several numbered stone pieces, so the individual curves, joint positions and finished edges must remain consistent when the parts are assembled. Small dimensional differences between individual pieces can otherwise accumulate across a long countertop or reception desk.

After the cutting layout is approved, CNC-based cutting establishes the main geometry. CNC contouring and profiling are then used where required for repeated rounded ends, curved edges, sink or cooktop openings and other non-standard shapes. Exposed curved edges require additional profiling and polishing so the finished radius remains consistent from piece to piece.

Both undermount and drop-in sink cutouts are available. For natural marble countertops, we often recommend an undermount configuration when the design calls for a cleaner continuous stone surface and easier surface cleaning.

Common and custom edge profiles can be produced according to the drawing, including eased, bevel, bullnose, ogee and mitered edges.

Slab Selection & Vein Layout

The appearance of finished Volakas white marble countertops depends heavily on the actual slabs selected before fabrication. Volakas can show noticeably different vein character from batch to batch, so we normally recommend choosing the visual direction before the cutting layout is finalized.

The two slabs below show two Volakas styles we may recommend to buyers depending on the project: one with a cleaner white field and a broad, softer directional grey vein, and another with more active, thicker grey movement distributed across the slab.

Cleaner, softer movement: a whiter field with a broad directional grey vein for projects that prefer a calmer slab appearance.

Stronger, more active movement: thicker and more distributed grey veining for projects that want a more visible natural marble pattern.

These are visual directions rather than fixed Volakas grades. Actual slab appearance varies by block and batch, so buyers can review current slabs before production.

For islands, long countertops, adjoining pieces and coordinated furniture components, important pieces can be positioned on the selected slab before cutting to better control:

• Vein direction
• Placement of stronger grey veins
• Relationship between adjoining pieces
• Countertop and backsplash alignment
• Waterfall or mitered continuation

A small sample is useful for confirming the material type and general tone, but for multi-piece projects we recommend reviewing the actual slabs before cutting.

QC, Piece Numbering & Packing

Every fabricated piece is measured and inspected before shipment rather than relying only on random inspection. This is particularly important for curved and multi-piece assemblies, where several individually acceptable pieces still need to fit together as one finished structure.

Depending on the component, inspection can include:

• Finished length and width
• Thickness and diagonal dimensions
• Flatness
• Radius and curved profile consistency where required
• Cutout dimensions and positions
• Faucet holes
• Edge profiles
• Surface finish and finished faces

Our fabrication control can achieve approximately ±0.5 mm thickness tolerance, ±1 mm diagonal tolerance and ±0.3 mm flatness tolerance.

For multi-piece projects, each countertop, vanity top, shelf, ledge or furniture component can carry a piece number linked to the approved production drawing.

The same drawing reference can follow the component through fabrication, inspection photos and packing. Finished pieces can then be grouped by project area, room or component number, helping buyers match the shipment with drawings and installation locations.
