Grigio Collemandina is a natural Italian marble quarried in the Garfagnana area of Lucca, Tuscany, around Villa Collemandina. It is also known as Grey Collemandina or simply Collemandina in the international stone trade.
Its background ranges from medium grey to warmer taupe and grey-brown tones. Thin white and pale-grey veins cross the surface, sometimes accompanied by wider white areas and fine golden or beige-coloured lines.
These two slabs illustrate the range within the same material. The first has a more continuous grey background, while the second carries stronger white bands and wider areas of contrasting movement. Both can work in the same general colour palette, but they create noticeably different results when used across a large wall or countertop.
For material approval, Grigio Collemandina should be identified by its origin and actual slab appearance. Broad trade names such as Champagne Grey may be applied to different stones and are not sufficient for confirming material identity.
Grigio Collemandina is supplied in large slabs for wholesale distribution and cut-to-size fabrication. Our reference slab range is approximately 2800–3250 × 1500–2000 mm, although actual dimensions vary by block and slab group.

The dimensions above are product reference ranges. Final slab measurements, thickness, available quantities and finish options are confirmed against the material offered for each order.
Polished Grigio Collemandina gives the grey-brown base greater visual depth and makes the pale veins more pronounced. Honed Grigio Collemandina has lower reflection, allowing the warm grey background and natural movement to appear softer.
The polished slab photograph shows how reflected light interacts with the natural veins. A honed sample should be reviewed separately when the project requires a matte appearance. Sandblasted finishing can also be discussed, but surface texture and intended use need to be confirmed before production.
For an order involving several slabs, the main selection task is to establish a compatible colour and pattern range. A single sample can show the general material character, but it cannot represent every broad white vein or warm-grey area that may appear in full slabs.
Before approving a slab group, we review the following:
Grigio Collemandina may contain natural fissures and fine vein intersections. Resin treatment is used by some processors of this Italian material to stabilise natural micro-fissures and improve the finished surface.
Treatment should be checked against the actual slab group rather than assumed from the stone name. For pieces with critical cutouts, narrow sections or visible vein intersections, we can review the slab condition and proposed cutting positions before fabrication.
A white mineral vein, a natural fissure and a repaired crack are not automatically the same condition. Their appearance and effect on fabrication should be assessed on the selected material. Close-up photographs can help identify areas that require further inspection, but they do not replace checking the actual slab.
Grigio Collemandina slabs can be processed into wall cladding, floor tiles, stair pieces, countertops, bathroom surfaces and custom marble furniture. The finished-piece schedule determines how the slabs are selected and cut.
For large wall panels, the position of the white veins has a strong effect on the finished composition. Related slabs can be arranged to maintain compatible colour and visual movement across the wall.
Bookmatched or mirrored layouts may be possible when suitable consecutive slabs are available. A proposed matching arrangement should be checked using the actual slab sequence before cutting. Consecutive slabs do not automatically guarantee the required bookmatch pattern.
Square or rectangular floor modules divide the same natural vein network into smaller sections. For large quantities, grouping tiles by colour and distributing the stronger white areas can help prevent noticeable concentrations in the finished floor.
For stairs, tread dimensions, riser heights, edge details and vein direction need to be considered together. Finished-piece thickness and any reinforcement or support requirements depend on the design and installation conditions.
The warm grey-brown background makes Grigio Collemandina suitable for countertops, table tops, reception surfaces and other interior furniture pieces. White veins can be positioned across the top or along its length according to the available slab pattern.
Fabrication drawings should identify finished dimensions, edge profiles, cutouts and any mitered returns. These details affect both cutting yield and the placement of natural veins.
Grigio Collemandina is a carbonate-based natural stone and remains sensitive to acidic substances. Interior flooring, wet areas and working surfaces require suitable finish, maintenance and installation specifications for the intended use.
Excellent Stone supplies Grigio Collemandina marble slabs for stone importers, distributors, fabricators and project contractors. Slab orders can be reviewed by thickness, finish, required quantity and acceptable colour range.
For cut-to-size projects, a drawing, BOQ or finished-piece schedule helps establish the required slab area, cutting direction and fabrication details. Where adjacent pieces need compatible veining, the slab selection and cutting plan should be reviewed together before production.
Before shipment, inspection can cover slab identification, dimensions, surface condition, agreed repairs and finish consistency. For fabricated pieces, checks also cover edges, cutouts and piece identification against the approved drawings.
Large slabs and finished components are packed according to their dimensions and shipping form, with separation and supporting protection suitable for export handling. Packing and loading photographs can be provided as part of the shipment record.
Minimum order quantity, current slab availability and production lead time are confirmed with the quotation. The final schedule depends on the selected material, order quantity and fabrication requirements.

Grigio Collemandina is an Italian natural stone from the Garfagnana area of Lucca, Tuscany, associated with the Villa Collemandina district.
Champagne Grey is a broad commercial colour name used for different stones. Grigio Collemandina identifies a specific Italian material. Origin and slab photographs should be checked when comparing suppliers.
Our reference slab range is approximately 2800–3250 × 1500–2000 mm. Thickness options include 18, 20 and 30 mm, subject to confirmation against the selected material.
Some processors use resin treatment to address natural micro-fissures in this marble. The treatment and surface condition of the actual slabs should be confirmed before material approval.
Bookmatching may be possible when suitable consecutive slabs are available. The slab sequence and proposed mirrored layout should be approved before cutting.
Full-slab photographs or video can be provided to review background colour, vein distribution and usable dimensions before material allocation and fabrication.
