Hole diameter, centerline, spacing, basin-to-faucet position and clearance from the backsplash are taken from the approved faucet specification or production drawing. This keeps the basin opening, faucet layout and splash position coordinated within the same bathroom interface.

Backsplash and Side Splash Coordination

A 4" backsplash is a common option for Carrara Vanity Tops with Backsplash. Left and right side splashes can also be supplied, while custom splash heights can be produced according to the project drawing.

For Carrara marble, splash pieces also affect the visual result. Background tone, vein density and vein direction are considered when allocating material for the top, backsplash and side splash.

Where a more coordinated appearance is required, related pieces can be allocated from compatible areas of the selected Carrara material and their vein direction considered during cutting layout.

Carrara Selection for Vanity Tops

For vanity tops, Carrara should be selected not only for background color and vein character, but also for how the pattern will remain after basin openings, faucet holes and splash pieces are cut.

For a cleaner bathroom appearance, we generally prefer selections with a white to light-grey background, soft to medium grey veining and a balanced distribution of movement. Stronger veins can also work well when they are positioned intentionally and remain visually complete after fabrication.

During layout, particular attention is given to the basin opening, front rail, faucet area and the stone between two basin openings. A dominant vein that crosses directly through a large cutout may lose its visual continuity after cutting, while overly active veining concentrated in a narrow rail can make the finished top appear visually fragmented.

Backsplash and side splash pieces should also remain within a compatible background and vein range. For repeated hotel, apartment or multifamily bathroom types, closely matched Carrara selections can be used to keep the same vanity type visually consistent across multiple rooms.

Sink Cutouts and Fabrication Review

Single and double basin openings, large cutouts and longer vanity spans leave narrower marble sections around the sink area. These areas are reviewed on the approved production drawing before fabrication, especially the front and rear rails, the stone between double basins and the area around faucet holes.

Where additional support is required, mesh, rods, localized backing or temporary transport reinforcement can be added according to the piece geometry and packing requirement.

Polished Carrara creates a brighter and more reflective bathroom surface, with grey veining appearing more defined. Honed Carrara provides a softer, lower-gloss appearance with a more subdued visual effect.

Carrara is a natural calcitic marble and should be maintained with pH-neutral stone cleaners. Sealing can be specified according to the finish and installation environment to improve stain resistance.
